06/09/2009 - For the forth time Aleksandar KARAKASEVIC and Ruta PASKAUSKIENE won the European mixed doubles title. Today in Subotica they defended the gold from the Belgrade 2007 when the Championship was the last time the part of the Single's Events.

Serbian-Lithuanian pairings crowned their partnership with four gold and one silver, but at the beginnings it was the planed double mix. "In 2000 in German's Bremen Ruta's mother asked our head coach lazar KURTES is it possible that Ruta and Slobodan GRUJIC played together. At that time I was not interested in the mixed doubles event, but Lazar though that it will be better than Ruta play with me. I am left-hander and he figured out it will be much better combination. Thankfully she accepted the proposal, and at the very first Championship we won the title," said KARAKASEVIC.

They won another in 2005. in Aarhus and since then they are unbeaten. "We are the perfect match. I stay close to the table, KARAKASEVIC receive the service good. The best example how we complete each other was today's ultimate stage. "

There are not only good sport pairings. "We are very good friends now. We stayed in contact in between tournaments and we can talk to each other about everything" explained Ruta.

Both players showed good form and it is a good sign for Serbian and Lithuanian teams in the eve of the LIEBHERR European Championship in Stuttgart. Ruta has another crown to defend, the singles title. Also after long time Lithuanian Women's team is in the Premiere division of the European Championships. They will play against Hungary, Czech Republic and Poland.

"We can not expect the great results in Team's event, but I hope that I have a chance again in singles and of course in the Doubles Event with Russia's FADEEVA," announced PASKAUSKIENE.

On the other side, KARAKASEVIC'S hopes lays on the Team's Event.  "Serbia will play against Belarus, Slovenia and Romania. It is hard to beat Belarusian side when we all know that Vladimir SAMSONOV will win two points against any team in the hall, but we are seeking for our chances in the matches against Romania and Slovenia."

05/09/2009 - The winner of the Serbia Open is home crowd favorite Marko JEVTOVIC. In the final of the Men's Singles Event JEVTOVIC beat Lubomir PISTEJ of Slovakia in straight games (12:10, 11:2, 11:8, 11:8). "I struggled in the first game, because I never played against PISTEJ before. He had very unusual strokes and I needed time to adjust," explained JEVTOVIC.

After causing the major upset at the Round of 16 by beating top seed Aleksandar KARAKASEVIC Marko JEVTOVIC continued good run by beating another Serbian representative Zolt PETE in grueling seven games encounter, and then in semi final he beat Andrei FILIMON of Romania. "To be honest, I am sorry that I had to play against KARAKASEVIC in such early stage of the tournament. I was relaxed, knowing that I had nothing to lose. On the other side pressure was on Aleksandar - explained JEVTOVIC - With Zolt I play from the cadets' category, and I am always looking forward our duels. It is always good and interesting game."

FILIMON is number 94 at the World rankings, whilst JEVTOVIC occupied spot number 162. "The win came as a surprise for me. FILIMON beat a lot of good players in his career and I did not expect such outcome."

Lubomir PISTEJ recovered from the opening game reverse to win the semi final match against Filip SZYMANSKI of Poland 4:1. "I did some mistakes so my adversary won the first game very close 13:11. Nevertheless, after that game I had fewer problems. I started to receive better, whilst SZYMANSKI struggled with my service - said PISTEJ . We never played before though we are same age." PISTEJ plays for French Cestas, the member of 16 top clubs in ETTU Cup this year.

In the quarterfinal of the Men's Singles Event Filip SZYMANSKI beat Vitali NEKHVIADOVICH of Belarus in five games. Lubomir PISTEJ, against seed number three Evgueni CHTHETININE of Belarus, needed one game more to win. Andrei FILIMON of Romania overcame Michail BARDON of Slovakia 4:1.

12/08/2009 - It is already confirmed that at the AGROBANKA European Championships in Mixed Doubles the Old Continent's champions Aleksandar KARAKASEVIC and Ruta PASKAUSKIENE will compete. The triple European champions from Serbia and Lithuania will joined their talent once again in Subotica (Serbia) from 4th to 6th September.

Belarus will also have a strong women's line up with Veronika and Victoria PAVLOVICH who will play with Vitali NEKHVEDOVICH and Evgueni CHTCHETININE.

Constantin CIOTI of Romania will play with compatriot Andrada VINCZE, Andrei FILIMON with Elizabeta SAMARA and Hunor SZOCS with Camelia POSTOACA.  Further list includes the pairings from Turkey, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Italy, Macedonia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Montenegro.

The organizer will release the definitive list of participants within few days. The AGROBANKA Mixed Doubles European Championships will take place as separate event for the first time in Serbia, together with Serbian Open.

23/07/2009 - European Championships in Mixed Doubles will be held from 4th to 6th September in Subotica. In addition, the 2009 Serbian Open will be held there in the same time. This week the Organizers of the Event made an agreement with the sponsors.

The title sponsor for the European Championship in mixed doubles will be AGRICULTURAL BANK AGROBANKA. AGROBANKA continues the tradition of the "Privilegovana agrarna banka" (Privileged Agricultural Bank) founded in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and Yugoslav agricultural bank "Poljobanka". "Its good reputation and trust of its clients came as a result of the constant care for its clients' needs and providing a reliable and efficient banking service. So we are very happy that we made an agreement with them" Zoran KALINIC said.

The negotiation between the Organizing committee of the European Mixed Doubles Championship in Subotica and DONIC are also finalized. DONIC will be the equipment sponsor of the Event in Subotica.

"We were very pleased with our cooperation in the past, especially at the European Championship in Belgrade 2007. We started the cycle with the Serbian pro tour couple years ago, and I am very happy that we will be on the same job again" Zoran KALINIC president of the Serbian Table Tennis Federation announced. The balls suplier for the event is NITTAKU.
